When it comes to the battle between liposuction and liposculpture, end results usually become the final judgment. Both liposuction and liposculpture are popular cosmetic procedures for sucking and removing fats from underneath the skin. Both men and women prefer these procedures to help them gain back their body contour. Using these procedures, fats can be easily removed from various parts of the body, such as the thighs, stomach, arms, and buttocks and in the neck and lower back. One difference between this two is that liposculpture or tumescent liposuction is considered to be safer and more advanced compared to any other liposuction techniques available.
- Liposuction – this procedure requires larger incisions in the targeted area using a large-sized cannula to suck out fats. Because of this, the risk of experiencing blood loss is higher during the surgery. Aside from that, liposuction surgery also requires the administration of anesthesia, which may also cause adverse side effects to some people. Aside from that, the large incisions in the targeted area may also result to having scars which may or may not go away.
- Liposculpture - this, on the other hand, requires very small incisions for the insertion of micro cannula devices. These small incisions may constrict the blood thus preventing it from overflowing. During the procedure, a solution of epinephrine and lidocaine is injected into the targeted area to help constrict the blood vessels along with the fats that will be removed. This solution can also help reduce the risk of pain and swelling during the surgery. It can also promote faster healing process for the scars and reduce the risk of having permanent scars.
Recovery Period
The recovery time of liposuction is longer compared to liposculpture, as liposculpture surgery lasts for only an hour and the incisions will only take 3 to 4 hours before it becomes completely healed. Aside from that, the results of liposculpture can be seen immediately compared to liposuction. Liposuction surgery, on the other hand, may take 8 to 9 weeks before healing completely and the swelling gradually reduce and may even take several months to complete.
Cost
Due to the advanced technology being used when performing liposculpture, reviews have shown that it is more expensive compared to liposuction.
Risks and Side Effects
According to some fitness blog, almost all types of surgical fat removal procedures have its risks and side effects. For both liposuction and liposculpture, the risks can be dangerous and the side effects often include the following:
- Infections and bleeding are some of the most common side effects of both procedures.
- If there is uneven removal of fat, this can lead to skin dimpling which may require another surgical procedure.
- The possibility of death is also present for both procedures, especially when done by an inexperienced surgeon so make sure to find a reliable, experienced and professional surgeon to perform the procedure.
